C-41 PROCESS FTL?

This is as accurate as a photo can be to showing a subjects despair

Yep, you read the title correctly. I was denied 3 rolls of film (36 exposures each) when I took my film to Walgreens today to have it developed. I had spent a few hours overall composing the 108 shots.

The film I used was Ilford HP5. Living in Cedar City I am cursed with only having 2 options for having my film developed as far as I know (I haven't tried asking professional photographers in the area if they would develop my film). I knew Cedar City was cursed in various ways. I had never expected that Cedar City was cursed with incompetent film developers. It devastated me to hear that all of my film had been ruined, conveniently call it "Blank Film", to the point that the clerks at stores could tell something was wrong. It has been quite some time since the last time I was noticeably depressed by an event brought on by others.

I chose to trust Walgreens over the second option, Walmart, based solely on personal bias. I thought to myself, "Walmart can't possibly have someone in the photograph sector that can make prints I will be satisfied with." I am now left wondering if I could have circumvented the Walgreens problem if I would have tried to have my film developed at Walmart. I didn't expect someone with professional knowledge about developing film. However, I did expect the technician to know their abilities. If the proper procedures were not available I would expect to be warned. With an infinite magnitude I would prefer to be disappointed in being told that the developing techniques were not available for my film than showing up 2 hours later to be told that 108 shots had been destroyed forever.

I have written a complaint email to Walgreens in an attempt to have them conduct a more thorough training for their employees that deal with the photography.

Thank you for bearing with me on this incredibly boring post. Venting complete at long last.
