B.A.C.

Ryder has been reborn as a new christian dog. He has been putting fish symbols all over the things that are his. He has been trying really hard to talk about the Bible to me. I have listened to some of the things he has been saying. The Bible is much more interesting than I originally thought.

YIN AND YANG

SPOILER ALERT: This is going to be a very mushy post.

Eimile striking a gorgeous pose next to me
I finally have something that I am really excited about blogging about. Her name is Eimile. I can't remember being so happy in my entire life. I feel like a new person. I feel like I am the best version of me when I am with her. I will/would do anything it takes to make/keep her happy. Don't test me.

Sitting on the pig in Pike's Market, Seattle

Proof that she is great
I could not imagine someone that is so able to complement my unusual personality. I never grow tired of her company. Her voice is the most amazing sound I have ever experienced. I smile every time her name shows up on my phone. I love that she is willing to join me on silly adventures. I dare you to name 2 adults (excluding Eimile and myself) that you know that would go for a shoulder ride in the middle of a park. If you are able to do that I am impressed. Now for the next challenge. Count the number of people that wouldn't do it and compare. Now you are impressed?

Seattle
In closing I would like to say that I think that she is the prettiest girl in the world. I love my sweet Emmie.

CANCER KIDS

Before

After

I never realized how gross I looked until I had a before and after photo of myself after a haircut. I hope everyone is happy. I donated my hair. I hope some little kid thinks that it was worth it for me to cut my hair.

HERO FAREWELL

I finally wore out my shoes. They were wariors. They lasted longer than I could have ever expected. Too bad I forgot the toll for the river styx. They won't make it after all I guess. Tribute done.

RAINBOW

I went fishing again. I caught a fish this big. It was better to catch a fish than to get skunked.

TIM TEBOW IS A JET???

This is how far I can throw a Nerf® ball. It measured out to be 41 paces. I won the neighbor competition.

TRICKING AND KILLING... OR RELEASING

I had a day off so I thought I would see if I could go somewhere dangerous and nearly kill my dog.

Here is the full story.

It was a Friday afternoon and it had been unusually warm weather for a few weeks now. I had been talking to someone about fishing a few days earlier and decided that I would go when I had a chance. That day was my chance. I had invited a few friends to go with me but they were not interested or they were otherwise occupied. I arranged to borrow my dad's Jeep. I was planning the trip with just my dog as company but a few hours before I departed my friend Aaron became available so he joined us.

I picked up the Jeep and drove to a small reservoir about 30 minutes away from my house. The plan was sound in theory. I had arranged to borrow the jeep in anticipation of a small amount of mud being possible with the spring snow melting. I was certainly right about the snow. When we were about a mile away from the reservoir snow was all over the road. Just before we could see the water i commented about how much it would suck if the lake was frozen. We both just laughed at the thought. The joke was on us though. There was a fairly thin sheet of ice on the water.

We should have just gone straight home at this point but we thought we might as well scope things out. I drove as far as we could go toward the stream that supplies water to the reservoir. We got out and started hiking in the snow to the edge of the water.

As soon as we were out of the trees and brush Ryder decided that it was in his best interest to run at full speed onto the ice. The ice, we quickly determined, was so thin that it could not even hold the weight of a 40 pound dog. He fell through. All three in our party were thrown into panic as he struggled to escape almost certain death. I called to him to come back to me on the ground rather than continuing his route to the center. He turned and was lucky enough to get his paws on some thicker ice where he could pull himself out. He ran to me confused and a bit stunned. He looked up at my concerned look, shook the water out of his fur, and then started to run around like an idiot.

That should have been our sign to leave but we were not done yet. I wanted to see what the stream was doing to the ice around the corner. I persuaded Aaron to hike through the snow to see what was going on there. It was the second bad decision.

Where we began walking in the snow it didn't go above a few inches when we stepped on it. In the midpoint of the journey it was above the knees. I was just laughing about how awful this decision was [forgetting about sunk cost].

With much effort we finally go to where the stream entered the reservoir. It was a bust to say the least. My room was larger than the available open water. We had failed on so many levels but we were determined. I deduced that my only option was to put some Powerbait® on a hook and hope for the best. Hope wasn't enough. My toes were starting to freeze at this point. I suggested that we give up. We did with enthusiasm. Skunked again.
Aaron thrilled to be "fishing"

FIRST DAY

I sent Ryder to his first day of school. He got expelled and I was asked to never allow my son near first graders again. Sorry Gracie.

WORK DOG

I have noticed a trend lately. Blogging about kids. I don't know what parents are so fascinated with. I have seen kids.

Any of you that know me will know that I don't have kids. I have a dog. This post will show just a few things he can do.

I have also noticed that no matter the effort you put into something there always seems to be someone better than you....

DRAWERS

How many drawers did you build today? Fewer than me I am sure. Take a photo and email it to me if you want 20 points?

NEW PHONE

I have a new phone. It will now be easier for me to blog with pictures. Enjoy.
